“Mohabbat Karne Wale”, cover of the popular Ghazal written by Hafeez Hoshiarpuri, which was sung by Shahenshah-e-ghazal Mehdi Hassan for the album Showcase Southasia, Volume 3 from EMI Pakistan. The raag Khamaj based Ghazal has also been sung by other well-known singers such as Farida Khanum, Talat Aziz, Ali Zafar and even Papon/MTV unplugged. This IndianRaga cover, arranged by Mahesh Raghvan, blends in new age sounds while preserving the richness of Ghazal singing. The song ends with a Tihayi. Vocalist Manas Vishwaroop presents two Shers of the Ghazal, with Advaith Roy playing phrases of raga khamaj on the Harmonium and Anirudh Sharma on the Tabla playing Laggi-Ladi, a faster variation of Theka (rhythm cycle) that is typical to the ghazal genre.
